An Unflattering Report on Charter Schools

Here is the CREDO press release.

The most significant findings are as follows:

  • 17% of charter schools provide a superior education to public schools
  • Nearly half of charter schools have comperable results to public schools
  • 37% of charter schools produce worse results than public schools

These results are avictory for public school advocates and a tribute to all those who toil under the embattled public school system.  While some reforms to our education system are necessary, the charter school movement has not produced adequate results, especially considering charter schools can still select and limit some of their student body.  As reforms to public education continue in the near future it is the hope of the GFCCE that teachers and education professionals will be active participants in the reform process.   Succedssful reform requires that certificated and classified have a seat at the table.
