- It is disappointing but not surprising that the Board has decided to put the $330,000 from the "A Street Project" into a special fund. The distirct has hammered home, time and again, the need for the employees to make consessions in salary and work days and now they are earmarking this $330,000 into a fund for still undefined capital improvments. Not surprisingly, Audrey could not confirm whether it was possible to remove the money out of that fund at a future time. (How could she not know that?) Why isn't this money placed into the general fund until pink slips are rescinded? It would be a monstrosity to see this money used on the upgrade of the football field when drama, German, and wood shop are all cut from the district.
- We were told during last winter's debate regarding the CTE loan that we could optimistically see that money unfrozen by April. April has arrived and the funds are nowhere to be seen.
These two instances provide further evidence of how district leadership view teachers and classified staff. While many school distircts in our area are under severe financial stress, our district just recently received a three year certification, meaning it will be able to meet its financial obligations for the next three years. It seems that the district is manufacturing a financial crisis in our district based on the news from neighboring distircts and is asking for concessions in order to pay for deferred maintenance around the school sites. This is no way to treat dedicated employees.
